Review of Asus Zanbook 13 Old

Although until recently it was impossible to find a laptop equipped with an old display at prices below $ 2,000, now Asus has brought the technology to below $ 1,000 with the launch of the 13Benbook. The Taiwanese company, in collaboration with AMD, has been able to launch the base model of this device with 16 GB of RAM, AMD Raizen 5 5600U processor and 1 terabyte of storage space with a price tag of $ 750. The higher model is available with the Raizen 7 5700U processor for $ 900.

Raizen 5000 series processors have shown good performance in laptops so far, and their power consumption is excellent, which is an important factor in buying a mobile computer. Comparing the performance of this series with the Intel Core i7-1165G7 found in the Asus Zenbook 14 and Dell XPS 13 laptops can be interesting. Not surprisingly, the Asus Zanbook 13 can beat both laptops in terms of battery life and last about 11 hours and 7 minutes in normal daily use. That was a few hours more than the results of the Zanbok 14 and Dell XPS 13, both of which use the LCD panel instead of the old one. The difference between LCD and old panels in white and black pixels is quite obvious. Old white pixels are lighter and black pixels are darker because they are off.

The battery life of the Zanbuk 13 can be considered the best result among all laptops equipped with the old display. In addition to the lower power consumption of its panel, part of this brilliant result is related to the full HD resolution of this laptop, which in most laptops We see the Old For screen. Full HD resolution may not be pleasant for some users, but the Zanbuk 13 display does a good job of displaying eye-catching colors.

It can be said that in the field of integrated graphics, AMD is the strongest competitor of Intel’s Iris Xe. While the Intel Xbox 13 and Dell XPS 13 with League of Legends graphics averaged 200 and 205 frames per second, respectively, the Xbox 13 averaged 235 frames per second. Also in the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Zanbook 13 was able to perform 30 frames per second in the highest settings, leaving a smoother performance than its competitors. But in Overwatch, the results were different, and the ZenBook 13 failed to record a higher frame rate than the ZenBook 14, despite beating the Dell XPS 13. Finally, in the last game tested, Zanbok 13 had the weakest result among its competitors in the Rocket League, showing only 60 frames per second.

As expected, the Asus Zenbook 13 Old recorded a mediocre time in video editing. It completed the processing of a 5-minute, 33-second video with full resolution in 14 minutes and 14 seconds, which was longer than the three laptops Zanbok 14, Dell XPS 13 and Apple MacBook Air. The output time of this video was 14 times 11 minutes and 28 seconds on the Zanbok, 13 times 10 minutes and 43 seconds on the Dell XPS and 8 minutes and 15 seconds on the MacBook Air. Not surprisingly, the 5800U was poor in this test, as it lacks Intel Quick Sync. Of course, the results of this device are a good improvement over the 15-inch Surface 4 laptop, which, despite taking advantage of the latest generation of AMD Raizen 7 4980U, took more than 16 minutes and 30 seconds to do so.

In the PugetBench test, which measures the performance of the device in the Adobe Premiere Pro program, Zanbok scored 13 points 201, which is higher than the previous generation, but still failed to beat Dell XPS 13 and MacBook Air. All in all, the powerful 13-core ZenBook 13 processor delivers low power consumption with decent integrated graphics, which is on par with the best of Intel and is up to the standards of the ZenBook series.

The body of the Zanbuk 13 conveys a slight feeling of cheapness to the user by using plastic parts. The laptop door hinge is not very strong and if you lift the device while the door is open, the door will open or close more easily. Also, the outer surface of the honeycomb door has 13 high talents in absorbing fingerprints, which will cause trouble. None of this is unexpected at this price point, and the Zanbok 13 certainly looks prettier than many of the devices you can get for less than $ 1,000, but it’s not comparable in quality to the XPS or Specter series.

Measuring 304x203x13.9 mm and weighing 1.14 kg, the Zanbok 13 is heavier and thicker than the Zanbok 14 but lighter and thinner than the heart of the XPS. The webcam of this device is not great even in good light, but it supports Windows Hello as the only way of biometric authentication in the absence of a fingerprint sensor.

Now it is time to examine the arrangement of Zanbok 13 ports. It has two USB 3.2 Generation 2 Type-C ports, a USB 3.2 Generation One Type-A, an HDMI 2.1 and a slot for microSD cards. Asus has been generous in this area, but there is no audio jack, which is not a big issue in recent years. Also, due to the AMD configuration, there is no Thunderbolt port.

One of the interesting features of Zanbok is the second generation number pad. If you touch the right corner of the Zanbook 13 touchpad, a numbered LED screen will appear that you can use as easily as the numbers on the keyboard. You may occasionally enable this feature, but over time, you will get used to avoiding the dedicated pad number area.

Asus Zanbook Pad Number 13 Old

With a powerful processor, a quality display and a slim body, the Asus Zenbook Old 13 is a good choice in the price range below $ 1,000. Along with the disadvantages such as the lack of an audio jack and the average quality of the body, the advantages of this laptop are obvious, and if you are looking for a laptop for everyday use with easy transportation, ‌ you can put the Asus Zenbook 13 Old at the top of your shopping list.
